The 2023 FISU World University Games are choosing a contractor to organize the opening and closing ceremonies

The opening ceremony of the 2023 FISU World University Games will be held on August 8, and the closing ceremony on August 19, 2023, at the «Ekaterinburg Arena» stadium. Ceremonies will be broadcast live to viewers all across the world.

Viewers can expect a unique event that will showcase Russia's sports and cultural values. Representatives from 150 countries are expected to take part in the traditional athletes' parade. The opening ceremony will culminate with the lighting of the Games flame, which will signify their start. The closing ceremony of the 2023 Games will be unique, as it will be held on a day very significant for Ekaterinburg - the day the city celebrates its 300th anniversary.

The Games organizers begin accepting applications for the competition to develop the ceremonies' concepts. Companies that already have experience holding events of such scale and importance can take part in the competition. Aside from fulfilling the key protocol requirements, projects should reflect the unique aspects of the upcoming Games. For the first time in the history of the Games they will include an artistic programme consisting of three art categories: Vocal-instrumental performance, Choreography, and Public Art. Concepts should include original and unique solutions for holding the athletes' parade and the ceremonial lighting of the Games flame.

Uniqueness and creativity of the concepts will be judged by a professional jury consisting of worldwide famous cultural and sports figures.
